Associazione Culturale Obiettivo Granieri

In summer 2010 protagonists/authors of photography in the small community of Granieri will be its women to whom it is offered the opportunity to tell about themselves and their world through their images.
The laboratory "Occhi beddi" follows those realized with success in summers 2008 and 2009 when the protagonists were, respectively, the adolescents and the over 70s of Granieri and it represents the third stage begun a documentary project on the village of Granieri "the village which takes pictures of itself" with the aim to assert the necessity of an historical memory of the place and to consolidate an identity conscience.
Therefore, an ulterior dowel to a storytelling through images of the life of a small community and of a land plentiful of emotions, that guards its own history and withholds its memory, that opens itself bravely to the new never renouncing to the proud feeling of its own roots.
Granieri seen through the eyes of its women: mothers, wives and daughters, who dress modernity not undressing themselves of the ancient knowledge of being mainstay of family and society.
The project that since three years Obiettivo Granieri gets ahead in the small sicilian village confirms how photography can work also like a social action, like a pointer of route, as if "to do allows to see", in order to catch those traces which can lead in that dense place where history and subjectivity produce social life.

The photographic workshop will be lead for free by photographers Cristina Ferraiuolo and Ninni Romeo, helped by photographers Luca Anzani and Massimo Nicolaci.

An initiative supported by the Municipality of Caltagirone in collaboration with the Istituto Comprensivo A. Narbone of Caltagirone and the Parish San Giovanni Battista of Granieri.
